WE ONLY SUPPLY SANTA ANA COUCH
Why Santa Ana Couch?
Quite simply, I have found that Santa Ana Couch is the best performing lawn on the market for our harsh Australian climate. It ticks all the boxes in terms of durability, disease and weed resistance and of course, it looks fantastic.
Santa Ana Couch is extremely hard wearing and is widely used for home lawns, sports grounds, golf courses, tennis courts and parklands.
An ideal all-round lawn with a fine texture and strong growth structure which has superior drought tolerance and thrives in full sunlight. It has a creeping/runner growth and a deep root system, allowing it to recover rapidly from any wear and damage.
Santa Ana Couch does not disperse seed which minimises allergic reactions making it ideal for kids and dogs and particularly for anyone suffering from asthma.
Disease and Weed Resistance
Santa Ana has excellent resistance to diseases. This outstanding quality makes it easy to maintain, provides uniform colour without patches and allows healthy growth.
In addition to disease resistance, Santa Ana is also resistance to most weeds as compared to other couches. This means that you don’t have to continually weed and apply herbicides.

FAQ
We have Dogs – how will they affect my lawn?
Dogs love digging holes, especially in loose dirt. To patch up a hole – take some runners from another section of lawn, bury 90% of the runner and keep them damp for a couple of weeks. Don’t forget to keep the dog off that section until the new lawn is established.
Brown patches in the lawn: Dog urine can kill lawn (female dog urine is stronger than males) especially if they use the same spot repeatedly. You can reduce the likeliness of this by feeding the dog tinned food and small amounts of dry food (dry dog food is high in sulphur/protein which is what may cause the lawn to burn). Regular watering of the lawn will help to dilute the urine. If you have sub surface irrigation you will need to also water from above the ground to reduce this problem.
We want to put in lawn around a pool – will it affect my new lawn?
Salt water pools: Santa Ana Couch has the greatest salt tolerance at 3500-4000 parts per million. However, excessive splashing onto the lawn causes a build up of salt in the soil which may reduce the growth rate of the lawn. Regular watering and rain will rectify this as it flushes the salt away from the lawn roots.
Is it advisable to use Sub-surface Irrigation?
When first establishing your lawn, I’d suggest that you water from above the ground, for the first couple of weeks to ensure that the lawn gets enough water. This is only because in the first couple of weeks, the roots of the turf needs to be kept damp and you don’t want to be assuming the lawn is getting enough water.
You will need to trial watering times to make sure the entire area of your lawn is getting watered. If you don’t water long enough the lawn will die where it is not getting water. You could try carefully digging (you don’t want to rupture a line) down after watering has been done to see how far out the water has reached. Your specific soil type will determine the amount of time it takes to water.
It’s also worth noting that blockages may occur in the dripper line which can cause brown patches in your lawn.
How do I avoid fungal problems in my lawn?
Water in the morning instead of after sunset or through the night, this will stop your lawn from remaining damp on top for hours allowing the fungus to grow. Fertilise regular with a fertiliser high in nitrogen (remember to water after applying fertiliser or it will burn and discolour the lawn) as fungus does not like nitrogen.
Mow using a catcher. Mow the affected areas last, washing the underneath of the mower and catcher with a solution of bleach and water to kill any spores. The fungus will stop growing when the weather becomes consistently hot. The lawn will then regenerate.
How will Trampolines affect Santa Ana Couch?
Santa Ana Couch requires full sun to perform its best. If trampolines are left in the same location on top of the lawn they create permanent shade. This causes the roots to remain damp and they may start to die off, especially in winter.
To avoid this, move your trampoline regularly to different areas of lawn and if possible remove it from the lawned area during winter.
